Detroit Month of Design returns September 1–30 for its 16th annual celebration of creativity, innovation and community.

Produced by Design Core Detroit, the monthlong festival brings design to life through exhibitions, installations, workshops, studio tours, conversations, product launches and community events across the city. Most events are free and open to the public.

This year’s theme, “Design Moves the Future,” highlights how Detroit designers are putting ideas into practice to solve problems, build resilience and strengthen communities. Programs will explore climate and sustainability, mobility and access, materials and product design, and civic and community-led design.

Detroit is the first and only UNESCO-designated City of Design in the United States. Month of Design celebrates the artists, designers, makers, businesses and residents who continue to shape Detroit’s international creative legacy.
