The Detroit Artists Market (DAM) is proud to announce the relocation of its exhibition, Dope Women in Media curated by Laura Gibson, to the Center Galleries at the College for Creative Studies (CCS). Originally scheduled to open on January 24, the exhibition was postponed due to a significant flood that temporarily closed DAM’s gallery for renovations.

Thanks to the generous support of CCS and the broader community, the exhibition will now open at CCS’s Center Galleries, ensuring that the artists continue to receive visibility and public engagement during DAM’s temporary closure.

"CCS is pleased to partner with our friends and neighbors at the Detroit Artists Market to produce this exhibition. The Detroit arts community's resilience and creative impact is strengthened when we show up for one another, revealing the importance of thoughtful collaboration. Dope Women in Media is a timely exhibition, and these artists deserve their time in the spotlight," said Lucy Cahill, CCS Gallery Coordinator.

Dope Women in Media celebrates the groundbreaking contributions of women in media arts. Featuring work by Detroit-based artists, the show explores intersections of film, video, photography, and new media—highlighting personal and social themes shaping contemporary culture.

Through bold, experimental, and critical practices, the exhibition shines a spotlight on the powerful voices of Detroit women working in art, filmmaking, and storytelling.

“I’m grateful to the Detroit Artists Market and the College for Creative Studies for partnering to showcase the Dope Women in Media exhibition. DAM’s efforts to keep its programming alive while recovering its space is to be applauded. I look forward to seeing these amazing women photographers and filmmakers on display at CCS.” - Laura Gibson, Curator

“Even in the face of unexpected challenges, DAM remains committed to program continuity and providing opportunities to showcase local artists. We’re grateful to the College for Creative Studies for their generous partnership in ensuring Dope Women in Media receives the visibility it deserves.”
