This National Poetry Month, Detroit Poet Laureate jessica Care moore will headline Starlit Verses on April 16, 2026, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

Part of the Wright Museum’s Third Thursday series, the evening begins with a cocktail hour from 6–7 p.m., followed by performances from 7–9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Presented in partnership with the Wright Museum, Starlit Verses brings together moore’s powerful spoken word with the rich harmonies of Starlit Ways, a musical collective from Columbus.

Blending poetry, music, and storytelling, the program explores themes of memory, identity, love, struggle, and possibility—highlighting creativity as both a form of resistance and a pathway to healing.
