jessica Care moore, Poet Laureate Fellow of Detroit, Michigan, has been selected as one of the American Academy 2025 Poet Laureate Fellows. AAP announced today that they are awarding $1.1 million to 23 poet laureate fellows across the United States. These fellowships recognize poets laureate for their literary excellence while enabling them to undertake impactful and timely projects that engage their communities through the transformative power of poetry.

 In partnership with The LOVE Building, jessica Care moore will launch a literacy initiative in several neighborhoods across Detroit. Please see the full press release below for more information about how moore, along with teaching artists, will conduct a series of intergenerational workshops helping to tell the stories of new and native Detroit residents and collaborate with Detroit muralists to facilitate large murals with student artists from Detroit Schools.
