City Director of Arts and Culture Rochelle Riley was the guest speaker at the Michigan Fashion Summit, where she encouraged designers and artists to own their brand and make sure that their designs are being worn. Detroit has always had its own sense of fashion. She also encouraged them to cooperate with each other on spaces so that they have a better opportunity to own their spaces rather than lease and build out beautiful spaces they may lose.

Loren Hicks, President and CEO of Michigan Fashion Week, said Riley's "insights and contributions added immense value to the event' and her "passion and dedication to arts and culture of Detroit are inspiring."

Michigan Fashion Week and Detroit ACE are seeking ways to better collaborate as more and more Detroiters are embracing fashion as a career.
