Silent Cry, Inc. a New York-based non-profit that takes a holistic approach to aftercare from mass incarceration, gun violence and trauma will host an art and activism in Detroit this weekend.

The Day of Empathy on Saturday, March 2nd,  will feature commentary from local and state elected officials and an "Art and Activism in Action" Sneaker Ball with special guest speaker, Collette V. Smith, who In 2017, became the first Black woman to coach in the NFL when she joined the New York Jets organization.

Founded and directed by Shawanna Vaughn, Silent Cry Inc. has worked to raise awareness around Post Traumatic Prison Disorder, underscoring the traumas created by incarceration and calling for training of prison personnel in the basic core competencies of trauma-informed mental health care and investment in behavioral health care services (including screening, assessment and clinical interventions for trauma).
