City of Detroit partners with Belle Isle Conservancy to celebrate Belle Isle Aquarium, the nation’s oldest original and recently-voted-most-beautiful aquarium

Join Us in Celebrating the
Belle Isle Aquarium's 120th Anniversary! 

Enjoy a FREE family fun day at the nation's oldest original aquarium in honor of the Belle Isle Aquarium's opening day on August 18, 1904, 
in partnership with the City of Detroit Office of Arts, Culture, and Entrepreneurship (Detroit ACE).
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE

OUTDOOR AQUATIC SCIENCE INVESTIGATION STATION
Visit Belle Isle Aquarium's O.A.S.I.S. and learn about the microorganisms that live in Lake Tacoma with the Aquarium's education volunteers. 

FASHION A FISH
"Fashion a Fish” teaches kids about fish adaptations. Participants will understand the meaning of adaptations and habitat, describe how adaptations (like mouth shape, body shape, coloration, etc.) can help fish survive, and the importance of adaptations in animals. Participants will use materials to build their own fish based on their selected adaptations.

STORY TIME
Enjoy story time featuring books from the Aquarium's education 
library, read by Aquarium volunteers at the Koi Pond. 
Stories are read at 11:30am, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30pm.
