Experienced and amateur photographers are welcome to sign up to be mural hunters
ACE is looking for more mural hunters to photograph murals at a time when murals are rising faster than ever before. The mural map launch debut follows USA Today ranking Detroit No. 4 in the nation in creation of beautiful murals.
Last June, Detroit ACE contracted with CANVS, an art technology company. The Detroit ACE Mural Map will feature hundreds of murals and biographies of the artists so people can learn about the creators. The map also has a search function that makes it easy to find favorite art and artists. Rochelle Riley, the city’s Director of Arts and Culture, said the initiative is part of Mayor Mike Duggan’s “Blight to Beauty” campaign to clean up the city, promote public art and demolish blighted structures. Detroit ACE, she said, hopes to better connect residents and visitors with the talented artists who have created and will continue to create iconic murals.
