Kicking off on Tuesday, September 26th through Saturday, September 31st, artists will be painting live from Noon - 9:00 pm daily, along with over a dozen exciting events.

Join Murals in Islandview HQ at Spot Lite for daily events, food, drinks, coffee, music, art exhibitions, talks, after-parties, and community.

This year's festival moved from Eastern Market, home for the past 6 festivals, to Detroit’s east side neighborhood of Islandview, with Spot Lite as our headquarters for events and a community space to enjoy a week of art, expression, and creativity.

For the 2023 festival, we are focusing on painting the new DTE Islandview substation on Beaufait Street between Charlevoix Street and E Vernor Hwy. With over 15,000 square feet of surface to paint, we expect this massive mural to be a destination for years to come.

The Festival kicks-off Tuesday, Sept 26th with an artist meet and greet and follow up on Wednesday with a talk and DJ set by Kevin Lyons, along with a drink and draw curated by Wrckls. Thursday will be the opening of Sheefy McFly’s “Pieces of Me” Solo exhibition, along with a group exhibition by all of the Murals in Islandview artists and a live performance by Dez Ańdres. Friday brings more excitement with a talk focused on How Commerce and Art Meet, aligning with an after-party and anniversary celebration by Detroit DJ collective House Party. We cap off the week on Saturday with a huge block party and closing event for the Month of Design, with an afterparty presented by Paxhau featuring Z-TRIP.
